The Struggle Continues: An Introduction.

It's time to get rooted. Find your why. Find your people.

Hi, my name is Karen Attiah, and I'm a columnist for The Washington Post.

If you follow me on social media, you'll know that I'm a host of a lot of other things. I'm an amateur Muay Thai fighter, cat mom to Artemis the Cat, and a third culture kid. I'm the eldest daughter of immigrants from Ghana and Nigeria, and yes, I am a native Texan.

You'll also know me as a fierce defender of journalists, and yes, of Ghanaian jollof rice. When people ask me what my beat is, I usually smile because what I do doesn't fit neatly into a box. I usually tell them that my beat is liberation because I'm interested in power, freedom, and frankly, subversion of systems and beliefs that create oppression.

I've lived and worked from around the world and country, and I've watched how everyday people push back, how they create joy, life, just how people keep going in the face of all odds.

I'm interested in how we keep fighting together, collectively, individually, and on multiple fronts.

Listen to find out more… and the deeper meaning behind “A Luta Continua”— “the struggle continues.
